How it works
The caller's side of the app has two buttons: call and hang up. That's all there is to learn.
Tap the green button
Open the app and tap the big phone button. Nothing to sign up for and nothing to type.
A helper answers
The call rings the next available helper. If one is busy, it moves to the next, so you are never stuck waiting on one person.
Fix it together
Your helper explains one step at a time. If seeing your screen would help, they can turn on video for you. You never need to find a setting.

Our promises to callers
Older adults are the main target of tech-support scams. We built Call A Grandkid so it can't be used as one.
Helpers never learn who you are
No name, no phone number, no address. Helpers only see that someone needs help.
We never ask for passwords or money
A real helper will never ask for passwords, codes, bank details, gift cards or remote access to your device. If anyone does, hang up and tell us.
Every call is recorded
Only our managers can listen, and only to keep calls safe. Recordings are deleted after 90 days unless there is a safety report.
You rate every helper
After each call, tap one to five stars. We review low ratings and remove helpers who break our rules.
You can hang up anytime
The red Hang up button is always on screen. If a call drops by accident, your helper can call you back for a few minutes.
Call A Grandkid is not for emergencies. In an emergency, call 911.
Be a helper
If you're good with phones and patient with people, you can make someone's week by fixing a five-minute problem.
- Must be 18 or older
- Take calls whenever you have time. Flip a switch to go available.
- Earn your place on the monthly helper leaderboard, ranked by calls and callers' ratings
- Follow a simple code of conduct: no personal details, no money, no remote access

For families
You can't always pick up when Mom or Dad calls about the Wi-Fi. Set them up once and they'll have someone to call.

- Remind them: helpers never ask for passwords or money
If something on a call worries you, family members can report it on a caller's behalf.
